Welcome Message

We are very pleased to welcome you to “The 14th International Conference on Near-Field Optics, Nanophotonics, and Related Techniques (NFO-14).” NFO has been held every second year since 1992 at Besancon, France and NFO is now the most established and outstanding conference focused on near-field optics, nanophotonics, plasmonics, related techniques, and interdisciplinary network of scientists. Following the tradition of NFO conference, NFO-14 will provide great opportunities for information exchange and creation of new science and technologies.

NFO-14 will be held in Hamamatsu city and this is second time to be held in Japan since 1998 in Shirahama. Hamamatsu city is located at the central area of Japan, just middle between Tokyo and Osaka. It is an industrial city and there are many manufacturing companies such as Hamamatsu Photonics, Suzuki Motor, Yamaha Motor, Yamaha, Kawai Music Instruments Manufacturing, etc. Hamamatsu is beautiful city and also famous for producing eel, green tea, tangerines, many marines products.

NFO-14 logo represents “Diamond Fuji” and the reflection at the surface of a lake. “Diamond Fuji” is the great scenery that the sun is overlapped on the summit of Mt. Fuji at sunrise or sunset. It looks like photon localization at the apex of a probe tip. The reflection is a mirror image of the localized photons.
